Dennis R. Schmidt is a researcher, writer, and teacher working on the politics and ethics of global governance. Currently a Lecturer at Swansea University, he studied Politics and International Relations in Bamberg, London, Washington, and Durham. He lives with his family between Germany and the UK. Interested in how a culturally diverse international community can overcome differences to address pressing global problems, he has worked with academics, policymakers, and practitioners on issues of global justice and law. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tübingen (sponsored by the German Excellence Initiative) and held visiting fellowships at George Washington University and the LSE. He leads a research programme on hybrid international criminal courts. In addition to publishing in scientific journals and books, he writes for media outlets and blogs in German and English (The Washington Post, The Conversations, Just Security, and Die Zeit).
